And The Little Bird Flies Poem by Alade Abayomi Idris

And The Little Bird Flies

Enough of this crawling
No to cumbersomeness
I have grown past this cage that held me
I am tired of this little place of birth
I want to see the world and beyond.

My legs should go on holiday for my new wings to work
My wings will make it easier, journey from city to city
I will fly disregarding boarders and its many armies
For laws do not exist in the air.

The sky is free from shackles
It thrills with quality views
Waters that flow from fall to sea
Animosity of animals in the woods
Voyeur on lovers through the cracks in the windows
I will wow the people with my acrobatic soar
I will soar and soar and become the most high.

Bye to my little place of birth
My thirst has grown beyond your offer
I may call back if your thought lingers
But I doubt it will
For the world is too beautiful.

And the little bird flies
Fly and fly and fly
And never returns.
