And When I Return To Lost Eden Poem by Mohammad Younus

And When I Return To Lost Eden

And when I return to lost Eden and,
See you face-to-face once more,
I may not appear as I once was--
the eternal self,
Rather, I will smile still,
Seeing my reflection in your mirror.
I'll thank you for allowing me,
an image akin to yours.
Grateful for the invitation to glimpse--
Your vision, I'll smile my best,
finding one true face within the mirror,
Resisting the pull of my false self.
I'll ensure that I don't fall,
Into the delusion of duality again.
So when I see myself, Inshallah,
In my purest, truest state,
I will no longer be marred by distortion.
As I step into the state of whole unity,
I won't turn away, but instead,
I'll wear the divine smile upon my face.
