Annihilation Poem by Aparna Chatterjee

Annihilation

The birds
The bees
The cattle

They don't
Have any
Say in the
Wars you
Wage.

The land
Gets destroyed

They get
Destroyed
Without having
Any say in the
Wars you wage.

With millions of
Civilians, the
Flora and the
Fauna become
Hapless, helpless
Victims of those
Thoughtless, relentless
Wars you wage.

Buildings,
Roadways,
Infrastructure,
What takes
Ages to build,
It takes moments
To destroy.

Sheer wastage!
Utter carnage!

That's the
Harsh reality
Of the wars
You wage.
