Another Fine Day Poem by Tsani Jones

Another Fine Day

Rating: 5.0

The dogs of war greet me
On my very doorstep
With a cooling cup of coffee
And stale cigarettes.

I wish the rain to soak me.
Clean her perfume
From my memory
Changing the tides of life
Out, away from bitter shores,
Sands of powdered glass,
And old visions
Pickled in a gastric tank of alcohol...

What a fine day.

A drought would be nice,
To bleach bones aching
The dull, weary pain
Of love dispelled.

And they call back to me,
To gaze into my cracked crystal ball,
Portend the future
As if my past was truly gone.
She wore a long dress
Cloaked in a smile
When blithely passed
Into another life...

But it's another fine day.

The era has passed-
An enchantress seeking
New kills and fresh,
Bloody emotion.

Evils of the moment
Are submerged in deep, brown eyes,
A childish voice, and silk wrappings
Of a cherub once in love.
Three a.m. finds me there
Asking, touching,
And writhing for an answer-
Anything to locate what's missing.

God, what a fine day.
