Another Mystery Poem by Kelvin Rush

Another Mystery

See the smouldering tepid disguise
Right in front of your gullible eyes
The evil and hatred that lurks within
Unaware of the imminent danger we're in

Cast your mind back to Goddess Jean
She said what would happen if you didn't come clean
You vehemently denied your involvement in the death
You lied and betrayed you witnessed the final breath

You can deny all you like but we know you were there
You were seen at the house your DNA was everywhere
Have the grace to admit you committed the crime
Tell us your motive you're running out of time

I don't understand your intentions or meanings
I have no affection no connection no feelings
My mind is free from any thought of guilt
I cannot penetrate the walls I've built

Regarding the death I have nothing to say
I've not the slightest interest in these games you play
My conscience is clean my involvement is nil
You can think what you like I could never kill

The confusion goes on there's no end in sight
Someone must know what went on that night
A spur of the moment or an act of treason
Yet another mystery without rhyme or reason

In the final hours as the blood drains clear
When a life becomes numb to the guilt and fear
Who's the real victim and who told the lie
The one who was murdered or the one about to die
