the way you cope up
with depression is obvious to me.
your escape is the buffet
where food is served at its
highest quality and variety and
you eat voraciously as though
there will be no food
for tomorrow.

i watch you closely and (with pity)
and i am asking myself (how to reach you
and comfort you)
less the food and the fear that someday
your depression finally catches up with you
and then the tragedy shall happen.

i imagine, you will leave a note with all
your misgivings about life,
how it disappointed you, how love left you
with nothing to hold,
how hate comes with a sword of anger
how you must hold a gun and then point it at you
and hit the trigger with your finger,
and bang,

another death has to be told with
all understanding, here comes another one
with more to say
but has chosen instead
to end his story,
with him not telling it,
but with another, who must invent something
to cover up
a harsh reality.
