Answered Prayer Poem by Mariel Sacro

I took the arduous path for I have a dream to fulfill,
Clueless of where I will be taken by the wheel
Right at the back of the room, a man caught my attention,
With bushy eyebrows and pointed nose, I saw my ideal man's reflection

I looked into your eyes and felt you had something I needed to unveil,
But I had to shun for my situation seemed like I was in jail
Imprisoned in the wrong arms but you came and I was saved,
You stood at the end of the road, that God has creatively paved

I prayed for you to arrive a few years back,
Deceived by erroneous love, I knew there is someone I lack
Then I saw love when I started looking at the depth of your stare,
Until I realized you are the answer to my prayer

You said you talked to God and asked for the woman He made,
The woman you saw in me and so you broke the barricade
To Him we both prayed and now our souls had intertwined
God wrote a sublime love story that is one of a kind

I saw you in my dreams but never thought that you existed
You appeared before my eyes, and it was you that my heart insisted
You are a valuable arrival that I would never want to disembark
You came while carrying the torch and took me out of the dark

I prayed for happiness, for peace and fulfilling bliss
Hoping to find my safe haven and escape from the deep abyss
In you I discerned the man whose lifetime I was bound to share
My heart rejoiced, for you were given as a gift and my answered prayer.
