Anthem For Single People Poem by Stephen Gradwell

Anthem For Single People

Are you feeling lonely,
Down with the blues?
What have they done with the best part of you?
Is everybody with someone but you?
And if you feel your heart get more heavy,
Take a page from the Beatles and let it be,
And if your love life hasn't even begun,
Or maybe your 40 and still living with mum,
Be happy being single.

If the 'one' happened to have a two,
Or they just didn't want to be with you,
If your thinking that life is unfair,
There's one for you with a heart to spare,
Till then be happy being single.

Don't waste time with people not right for you,
Who make you do things you don't want to,
But if your mind is overcome with curiosity,
Only then should you explore and go and see,
Otherwise be happy being single.

And don't you go forgetting,
One day they'll tear through that door,
And they'll adore you so much more,
If you were happy being single.
