Anthony Poem by Samantha Torrez

Anthony

When I try to forget the past it comes too easy,
I hold your hand, I kiss your face, but do you feel the pain that took my place?
Are you seeing the tears in my eyes?
Are you seeing past my lies.
Lies, I could build a ladder to the moon with the many you tell me.
And as soon as you see a hint of pain you come back to the boy I knew in the day.
The day when life seemed so perfect, the day you held me tight, when you said you loved me, when it all felt alright.
You hurt me, cheated, then lied, then left me for words someone spoke, now that we're one again, i sit here terrified of what I'll get.
Hold me, close me, tell me you love me.
If it wasn't for fate I wouldn't be this way.
Love would be dead, but its so alive. with each breath, each crack, crevice, hole, penetrated mind. Look in my eye, tell me you can't define, all you feel for me inside. I feel so much more.
