Apologize Poem by Kevin Dion

Apologize

You and I
We started off so great
Made all sort of heads turn upside down
With our crazy love
They told us this was no touchdown
But did we listen? No we don't care
We said right back to their faces
We're the bee's knees
We're a pair of aces
And ain't nobody gonna change that
Little did we want to accept our cards were taking on a different face
From King and Queen to a set of Jokers
This is goodbye my sweetheart though
As bad as it may sound

I have to get on my way now
So I apologize because you cannot come along
And you're asking where did I go wrong
I have to get on my way now
So I apologize because you do not belong
And you're asking where did I go wrong
The answer is simple but
You won't understand

It's the end of us
And with all of it's pain
Tears gone with the rain
Just to fall asleep at nights
Knowing you won't be there
Yes it will be hard
But tomorrow will bring new lights
All of the blood and torment washes away
Like a tsunami covering the land around
I ride this wave
And you must be brave
Because darling you know

I have to get on my way now
So I apologize because you cannot come along
And you're asking where did I go wrong
I have to get on my way now
So I apologize because you do not belong
And you're asking where did I go wrong
The answer is simple but
You won't understand

Because we all just want to be loved
It's all just a game of chance when
Playing Russian Roulette with our hearts
Sometimes we might get shot
A broken heart not the end it's a new start
So just let it heal and
Pick up the gun again
Cause the hole will go away soon
And I won't forget what we once had in June
But this is me saying

I have to get on my way now
So I apologize because you cannot come along
And you're asking where did I go wrong
I have to get on my way now
So I apologize because you do not belong
And you're asking where did I go wrong
The answer is simple but
You won't understand
