Secret Lover Poem by Kevin Dion

Secret Lover

Rating: 5.0

Saw her the other day by the swing set
Sitting there all by herself, seeming all upset
Looking up, gazing back at me; boy, did I just die?
Wish I wasn't so shy
Threw my head to the ground
Panic in fear, couldn't make a sound
If only I was just a bit braver
She'd know by now just how I'll never feel the same for another
Like a squirrel buries it's nuts; I bury the secrets deep within
Just waiting to explode straight through the skin
To describe every butterfly I got for this gal
Then she'll understand my rationale

When you're sad; I'll make you laugh.
When you need somebody by your side; I'll be there.
When you're sick; I'll feed you chicken noddle soup.
When all you want is somebody to care; I'll bring you, I'll bring you a thousand roses.

Could search high and low all over the world
Won't find a finer girl
On my mind twenty-four seven
Lost my heart to hazel eyes at eleven
No more is this a six grade boy crushing
See her talking to a friend; can't help but make me smiling, blushing
Sending me butterflies, and she doesn't even know it
Thinking I might have been love bit
I love you, I love you, I love you; I shout from the highest mountain
And I'll scream it again and again
One more time just for the heck of it; figure I'll make it two
I assure you, my love is true

When you cry; I'll wipe your tears.
When you're cold; I'll keep you warm.
When your heart's in pain; I'll give it a kiss and put a band-aid on top.
When you ask how much I love you; I'll tell you, I'll tell you like a fat kid loves a candy bar at fat camp.

If only she knew that I existed
My heart wouldn't be so twisted
So for now I'm just her secret lover
One day I won't need to hide undercover
