Apology From The Heart Poem by Naveed Akram

Apology From The Heart

My heart apologises to my brain
When the world shines its light on me
And my eyes; dazzled by the spectacle,
And wanting to reach a normal perspective,
I conquer the whole man that I am
And so go seeking with the tongue of the heart.

The ship I began to bear was a child in the sea,
It gave birth to itself, I was born from courage.
If the ships of the sea spoke more truly than men
Then I would be visitor of an accusation from the waves
Far from land as its grasses grow obliquely;
My tame animals work vividly and with talent.

With my so obedient child and wife, the closing
Is in view, of a day in ever roars, and in a night
Of deluge and tumultuous men who submit
To no deity but themselves, considering the love
Of belief, and minding the work of the rich;
It is the ship of majestic time that travels in knots.
