a poet basically writes for himself. not many people are actually interested in another poet's work. anyway, poetry is quite a private thing and unless the reader is really into it, it is a miracle if someone would follow up on another poet's works. so i think a poet should buy himself a coffee when someone reads his poem, a dinner if 10 people read his works and a banquet for friends if the world read his.
