Artificial Banana Flavoring Poem by Lip Lempitsky

Artificial Banana Flavoring

You remind me of artificial banana flavoring

Your simply too sweet to be real,
And yet here you are,

looking at me with your eyes blue like cornflowers, and hair gold like the top of Des Invalides

You remind me of the smell of newly blossomed dandelions, and the feeling of wet grass on your feet

You remind me of a good weekend after a long week,

but long weeks don't exist with you

When I'm with you I forget about tomorrow, and I can't remember yesterday

I'm too focused studying the details of your face to think of anything else

Time doesn't exist in your presence

You remind me of waking up from a nap after getting too high

You remind me of being buried in the sand by my siblings at the beach

You remind me of my first cigarette, because you just feel so damn good

But most importantly you remind me to laugh, even when there's nothing funny, and you remind me to not be so embarrassed, because that's just embarrassing to care that much, and you remind me to smile, because how couldn't I?
