As anaesthetized
Over the level and sea-stretching Plain
I wander half-asleep
And half-awake
Giant winged things of black
Above soar and fly:
And utter words of hate
Reddish turn the rocks
Sound the myriad caves
Silence is the Word
And here Silence rules
Dizzy I tread
With risen hair and face of
Haggardness:
Here
Here on this haunted Plain.
Here
Here on this haunted Plain
As anaesthetized
Over the level and sea-stretching Plain
I wander half-asleep
And half-awake
