As He Holds Me Poem by Bri Lynne

As He Holds Me

As he held me unintentionally
And I thought of the way he held my heart
Hot and bleeding to his elbows
I wondered why he squished it between his fingers
So viscously
Malevolent and misquided
Will he find me when I’ve already left
Does he know my piercing secrets
To the core
Enough for a lifetime of bliss?

While I think of him
The one who steals me some days
The one I can’t quite give my heart to
Though it lay in pieces at his feet
His hands don’t make me strong
But rather
Remain a painful reminder
Of the way I’d want him to hold me
And his words
Are the words I wish he’d speak
But never entertain the reaches of my scattered mind

Torn like a cheap pair of wanna-be trousers
Comfortable in two incomparable Worlds
Reaching for two unpredictable ends
Knowing that no matter what
Someone will disappear forever
Just because of me
