As If The Walls Have Eyes When You Pass -By Poem by R. Absalom Catarata

As If The Walls Have Eyes When You Pass -By

as if the walls have eyes when you pass -by
they stand a-blazing 'hind the scarce o'light
as if my heart too mumbles the same sigh
with taps you take each ne'er less o'flight
and we are one the clinging boys sniffing
about your winged boots the molded knight
at the corner of the pillared stone sings
the white-goateed song and blanch's to fright
the unpillared heart and the heels o'the boots
go stamping-by cold in the fire of day
and we are one with our whistling cahoots
stamping-by cold in the fire of the day
for the twists and turn of lotharian gait
make men easy while they trample - late
