As In A Dream Under Anaesthesia Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

As In A Dream Under Anaesthesia

As in a dream under anaesthesia
Tottered round under the
Lightning; I help up my hand
And in the sky face the fingers
Lighted.
They reflect gray enlarged on my
Face.
Then - as if not enough -
I startled at peal of giant
Thunder - ‘It be here' I
Shrieked.
But in the distant kilometers
Loomed delighted.
I scared got used to
Being scared - that night of
Tempest.
Not just tempest but horrors
Added themselves.
For in the forlorn house of
Solitude
I witnessed her - the Ghost Lady
In turquoise of red flaming
The robes were long
The paces stately
The eyes red rotated.
