As Memorable Poem by Donal Mahoney

As Memorable

America has had presidents
who will be remembered
as much for what they said
as for what they did.

Americans will never forget
"Four score and twenty years ago…"
and "Ask not what your country
can do for you but what you can…"

Perhaps for different reasons,
other quotes as memorable are
"Read my lips: No new taxes"
and "Mission Accomplished."

But America has a man now who
may be elected and remembered
for a remark made as a candidate.
Still in the air is "Look at that face! "

Americans might like to hear
from the lady behind that face.
She's said little about the remark.
She still has time to speak.
