As She Watches From Above Poem by Lissa White

As She Watches From Above

Long red hair flowing in the wind
As she runs about and plays with her friend
She was such a rowdy girl
Who would rather play with the boys
Instead of her girly toys
She would play football in the dirt
If she liked you, she would give you her shirt
She always helped others
In her own way, undercover
She didn’t want to make a big deal
About the good things she did
But she helped those she could
Even though she had so little herself
She had a heart bigger then the state
She loved all those she knew
As they loved her fiery ways
Her love was like a sunray
She gave her heart to her boys
Danny, Tony and Donny brought her such joy
Because they needed her so much more
But Charlie and I knew the score
And knew she loved us too
Although they was her life
And they needed her more
She kept her boys home with her
At a time when society had a closed mind
She took care of them with pride
And many of nights she cried
When exhaustion would take over
And she felt so alone
We helped her with the boys
It was my biggest joy
I have learned so much
About unconditional love
A true gift from up above
She trusted me with her last son
When she left us that January day
She just wasn’t strong enough to stay
I hated to see her go
But it was her time
Death is at times without reason or rhyme
She was sick for so long
No longer strong
She placed her trust in me
And I hope I can be
The caregiver she showed me how to be
I learned from the best
The Lord will guide me through the rest
And give me the strength
To go the length
Before she died she told me
She picked the right person to care for her son
Her trust in me set me free
And scares me at the same time
It’s no time to wallow in self pity
It’s time to get down to the nitty gritty
And fight this fear of the unknown
For now I am grown
I just hope I can make her proud
As she watches from above
And sees all my love
In all I say
And all I do
As I care for her precious son
Until my life is over and done
To train up my daughter to do the same
To take over when I can no longer
Turning over the reins to the young and stronger
When I lay my head down to rest
And go live with the angels
As she and I watches from above

This is another poem written about my mother...Love You Momma.
