As Sick As Me

Rating: 4.5

One day I woke up and felt so ill
Id lay there eyes open and still
As i got up this pain was in my head
I tried pinching myself to see if I was dead
It hurt me so bad I wanted to cry
It felt so bad i wanted to die
I got back into bed and remembered i got drunk
This made me feel worse and so i sunk
So i said why me, why me iv'e got to get to work
So i jumped out of bed and i started to quirk
so i got dressed, ate my breakfast and went out the door
I then got to the car and again my head felt saw
so i went back in and sat on the setee
and i picked up the remote for the tv
i then flicked through the channel 1,2 and 3
and saw kids in africa with aids and H.I.V
I thought to my self why dont they look or feel as bad as me
so then the programme ended it said all the participators were three.

This poem was based on a man in his 20's, who went out and got drunk with his mates. He then woke up with a hang over, when he needed to get to work. That day he did not go to work, so he sat down and watched tv and the advert for the charity of aids and hiv came on explaining how kids the age of three are infected with the diesese, but didn't know they had it. This then made the man feel very guilty as he was feeling sorry for himself. Later on that day he pledged money for the charity.
And tries to persaude people to do the same, even on this very day.
