The Trenches Of War Poem by charlie sims

The Trenches Of War

Rating: 5.0

The weather was foggy, murky but not clear
Then bombs were dropped far and near.
A bang went off, further down the trench
I then felt my hand tightly clench
I looked at my hands dirty like mud
Again this sound gave a big thud
My heart started to race, as I was told to run
I was stopped, and was told to reload my gun.
Bullets flew through the air like a bird of prey
A grenade went off close, the air slowly turnt grey
I lay on the floor surrounded by blood
As I slowly start to sink into the thick, slimy mud
I know this is it as I slowly start to die
As this pain in my neck then makes me cry
I see this light, it was clear like a cloud
Then I heard someone shout out loud
The war has stopped, we have won at last
That’s when it was hard to breath so I took my last gasp.
