Oh my goodness! I certainly hope this is not a premonition of what is to be in store for you! No person deserves to suffer for such a long period of time before finally passing over to their next leg of their journey. I'm sure what is meant by this poem is that someone hurt you deeply and as far as that goes it really does seem as if the pain will last forever. Nicely expressed.
