As The Book Closes Poem by Alnaver Baltazar

As I close the book
Let me once again remember the story
Let my mind run through how it all began
How did the characters met
How such a simple challenge brought laughter
That bridged two strangers
How her eyes and gazes spoke to him clearly
And how her smile connected to his soul

As the story continued from chapter to chapter
I remembered how slowly their relationship came to life
Each day that he look forward to seeing her eyes
Each day that seems to give him the inspiration he longed for
Each day that drew him closer to her
Closer to her more that she ever knew
Each day he wanted to see her more and more
And each day he wanted to give all the care he can give
Only if he could
But each day he has to pretend

And as each chapter unfolds
He forgotten how it was to be alone
He forgotten how it was to be unappreciated
He remembered how it felt to laugh again
He remembered how good it feels to be inspired
He remembered how it was to be happy
He remembered how it was to love
He remembered how it felt to be loved

He once ask her what will she do if it was her last day
And he imagined how painful it could be
Leaving him alone and lonely again
Uninspired and cold
And if it was his last day too
He would take her to where it all began
Let her remember how things came to life for him
And he would show her how much he cared for her
Still, feeling the pain of caring for her for the last time

He would wrote her a love letter in her palm
They would eat ice cream together, hopefully alone
They would walk as if they were not tiring
They would share and listen to music
They would go home together
But as the day ends,
…it will all be just shared memories broken into two pieces

As the last chapter concludes
It was hard for me to read the ending
But everything has to end
But it’s difficult to know how sad this story must close

And as I close the book
Let me remember her face
Let me remember her eyes
Let remember her smile
Let me once again remember the story
Let my mind run through how it all began
And let me try not to remember how it ended
Just let me remember how they once cared for each other
And let me remember everything…
... Just to let the love remain the same
