As The Night Falls Poem by Mohammad Younus

As The Night Falls

As the night falls,
Some people say
the great No,
And some declare
the great Yes.
It's clear at once
who holds the Yes
Enlightened within;
and aware of the truth,
From the womb of darkness
the bright day is born.
He moves from honor to honor,
strong in his conviction
That darkness and light are,
Visages of the same truth.
He who refuses does not know,
Repeats again and again,
'I will still say no.
Yet that no—the right no—
Is because I don't want
My bright day wrapped
In the quilt of dark night.'
