As They Will Poem by Cecil (cj) Krieger

As They Will

Before they told me
I was dying
I took life very lightly
Because I did not know

You see... in my youth
Seconds were seconds
Minutes were just minuets
And the hours lasted forever

Ignorance is a mindless beast
That blindly dances
Carelessly achieving…
Nothing

These days
Knowledge has changed my time
And lengthening each moment
Of my life

But as I try to find
Meaning in things
That never had meaning
At all

And as I near
That place
Where all livings things
Must eventually go

I have come to realize
That seconds are seconds
Minuets are just minuets
And hours will do as they will
