Ashes Of Roses Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Ashes Of Roses

Hearts surely broken,
theirs is love in a mist,
Valentine romance
just doesn't exist.

Opportune moments
are fewer than few,
a dance gives no pleasure,
and a kiss is untrue.

Persist as they may
love has flown faraway
clairvoyant powers
predicted the day.

Now they pray for a spark
to light up cloud nine
because ashes of roses
could ignite love divine.
