Asked my Monsignor
As we together walked
Under old yet strong boughs and trees
In Hastings Gardens.
‘Why be you confused and
With ruffled hair
When you so sing and versify?
And why swerve you at times
from image to image
From scene to scene
From thought to thought in versifying so? '
Then said I: ‘In rapidity
Even of word, syllable nay,
There shall be transformation;
At the same time evolution
Life is V-shaped.
And when the verses V-shaped be
They shall Life and Evolution fast converge'
