Assassination Of A King Poem by Pete Rivera

Assassination Of A King

And now we start to see what's right
Despite the fact we spent all night
And now the air is moving slow
Giving us the chance to go

This wretched system won't hurt me now
Neither will I be forced to bow
This silent hell ruled by the king
Will soon fall down like eagle's wing

Tonight we reject the laws they made
And question exactly why they came
This time we have we shall not waste
Till kingdom come face to face
And then we draw our swords and fight
We will end this war tonight
This war will end despite the right
And now I sing to shake off thoughts
Of atrocities the king has brought

I arm myself with the loaded gun
To kill the king I will find so fun
His traitor ways soon come to an end
Till then I will kill the fiends he sends

The apple by the midnight moon
Will brown and brown so very soon
And then I will go in to perform the task
What kind of questions will you ask?

I've pulled the trigger to shoot him dead
And surely the bullet arrived to his head
And now the king is gone from place
I hope no one remembers his face

He is gone, I am here
The darkness is nowhere near
You will remember me
The one who set the kingdom free...
