Assumptions Poem by Jame Paise

Assumptions

Rating: 2.8

Are you forgetting me
when I'm here and you're so far away
Do the waves crashing make my picture fade
into the blue hues of the ocean,
separating us at arm's width.
I should've told you no to hold me that close
'Cause now all I smell is your warm breath against my face
Your hands should've stayed in mine
for now my body longs to be held
Is all that is left sweet memories
placed on the shelf of the past
slowly hardening 'til nothing remains
forgotten amidst the sweet songs
of illusion
