Asylum Harbour Poem by Marlon Janaway

Asylum Harbour

An involuntary sigh.
Eyes glassy with tears.
A heart that's too heavy,
for such tender years.
Through your far away gaze,
what can you see?
A small boat with no captain,
adrift out at sea.
Hold tight little vessel,
try to weather the storm.
We'll try and reach you,
your plights not forlorn.
Steer clear of the rocks,
and don't run a ground.
You're no longer lost,
you've been found, homeward bound.
Sail into this harbour,
these waters are calm.
Let us be your anchor,
we will keep you from harm.
But as sure as the tide,
the fair weather shall pass.
Storm clouds move in,
and the sky overcast.
You'll sail out of this harbour,
as we all know you must.
But whilst battling the waves,
think of us, you can trust.
So take care of the young,
be patient and kind.
For our earliest memories,
shape how we're defined.

A safe harbour is what most of us need at some time. Well said. Nice rhyme.
