At Bay Poem by Adewole Olaniyi

At Bay

In the midst of this river,
my soul within me clamour.
left or right, i know not whither,
to which paddle may favour.
its waves blows uncertainty,
as i manouvre my way,
thru' this territory of anxiety.
and as my time passes away.
I swerve to reach a shore,
among this turbulent meander
estuary closing more and more,
A cool part- i earnestly desire.
For a beach, My heart crave,
turned down 'cos i got a reef.
learnt to accept as the river gave,
tastes like gall or as bee's hive.
Through this River of arcane stay
Intresting, boring or just dreamful
I found myself at bay.
