At His Lordship's Mercy Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

At His Lordship's Mercy

At his lordship's
Mercy it hung as by a
Hair
It was weak
And
It was fair
There was water chill and
Loud
In to the freezing of
Sound
Deep
Deep freezing
Look! Beware!
There's an aluminum shark that
Prowls
Round turns and turns the
Blood
It has fed
Yet I be hungry
Hungrier still
The more hungry, the more
Famished
The more dangerous red
Eyes of snarling
Sweet delight of horror
In the might of icebergs standing
White and hard as hard will be
And
The night? It tiptoes soft
Soft as soft will be.
