At The End...Of Her Wits - Perhaps Poem by James B. Earley

At The End...Of Her Wits - Perhaps

....A woman having an abortion
Maybe she's at the end of her wits
....That's a distinct possibility
Society conveniently forgets

The unborn child...it is true
.....Literally has no voice
Neither....does the soldier.....
Both devoid totally of choice

Patriotically...it's acceptable
...The multiple fatalities...of war
While denying the body an abortion
...Which seems hypocritical....by far

'Tis...that anguished...scenario
Society conveniently forgets
"A woman choosing...abortion.....
Perhaps...she's at the end...of her wits"

Author's note:
"No woman wants an abortion as she wants an ice-cream cone or a Porsche. She wants an abortion as an animal caught in a trap wants to gnaw off its own leg."
