At The Graveyard Of Memories Poem by Daisy Pereira

At The Graveyard Of Memories

There is a torrential rain outside
pouring cats and dogs
monkey paws on window panes
wind rattles every curtain.

There was a time when
you loved me like none
the ancestral home played green and rosy
we were happy and together
words uttered
pacts signed
I shall lose
you shall lose
shall gain nothing
just to be together.

The ancestors hearkened
spirits of nothing
their graveyard remained silent
the river flowed without ebbs
time passes.

The river remained the same
grave yard too
with acceptance of new members
family tree also flourishes.

Do you remember the day
you first touched me
with your butterfly eyes
the same wind rattles the same window now.

There may be new lovers
unspoken pains, bewitched moon,

You have lost, I lost
we have lost
yet we remained on the sad shores
of existence.

The butterfly flutters,
time flows like a river,
We remember.
We forget.
we remember to forget
we forget to remember
yet we be, two pauses
on the eternity of time..
