Autumn Rest Poem by Elna Nel

Autumn Rest

Rating: 5.0

tonight if your soul
is a tired tree
I'll go with soft
tiny little steps
and polish the wood
into a copper wine
for your leaves'
colours are a new
curly line and food
for my tired soul's
bent root tonight
my friend the tree
while I go to sleep
with one of your
precious yellow leaves
in my hand, rest-
the wind will watch
and sigh in delight
and tell no one…
