Aviator Poem by Charlotte Peters Rock

Aviator

Rating: 4.0

You tell me it's impossible,
for humans to achieve.
And there I'll be,
frost-proofed;
wind-resistant and foolhardy,
in the attempt, trying
in the attempt, dying
to achieve it anyway.
To make you see - in spite
of your consideration -
I can do it. I can defy
gravity. Watch me! I can fly!

Flying high - too close to the sun -
burning wings keeping me aloft,
on the updraught;
stalling, crashing to the ground,
rising - like a Phoenix - on will,
to fly again;
until, by will,
by swooping, swirling will,
which holds me to the sky,
watch me! I can fly!
