Back From Auncle's Poem by Patrick Akhudu

Back From Auncle's

Just arrived from my uncle's;
There's very little of him left!
He is a smiling scarecrow
That diets on Nubian gin!

Uncle is bidding us all bye!
His liver has gone on strike,
His pee is curiously yellowish,
He weighs a few feathers!

You should see him stagger,
Harling epithets at Auntie
They even fight like felines
One day one will end in jail!

Aunty says he faces the sack;
He hardly reports to work.
When he does, he's drunk
And hopelessly unproductive!

Pray for your brother, mum
That he sees your next wish.
He belongs to the rehab
For treatment and counseling.

We can't just watch him die;
Let's rescue him right away!
We'll reach out for support
To start his recovery journey.

We can do so much more:
Campaign against drug abuse
In schools, churches, markets…
Alcohol and drugs can't win!
