Bagatelle... Poem by RIC BASTASA

Bagatelle...

shying from the outside world
where the sun can make a thousand bites
the king through his ministers
evolved
from efforts of bringing croquet
and shuffleboard
inside and
atop tables....

in the Great Hall at
Hatfield House
the tables have become smaller
enjoying the holes
in the middle
of their chores....
