Bastion Impenetrable - Poem by Alex V. Christoff

Nights of hecatombs when battles flow,
Redemption lies hidden in nation's glow.
Lives expendable in wrought iron cast,
Mold halcyon calms between canons' blast. Death masks abide those who fall,
Ages old answer to fidelity's call
For sinew and soul to noble rebirth
Of free wills chained in old lands' dearth. Gothic head follows iron column's path
Over plains of revelation breeding human wrath.
Kernel of truth hidden in seed low sown
Begets clouds of infamy by evil winds blown. Monsters of greed pervade the land,
And odious manipulators expand harm's band.
When rise the demigods in serpents' design,
Disguised move the vipers encroaching hearts' shrine. Somber lie the ages of sober reflection
Over sorrows' epochal chain to mankind's infection
From armies' trudge cross humanized clay,
Till final generation sculpts the terminal play.
