Battlefield

Soldier by night and soldier by day,
Infantry of love in a world of gray.
Stomping onward without delay.
How many lost along the way?

Battles won and battles lost,
Cities seized but hearts are tossed?
And so you win but at what cost
In a war so gone astray?

Far outnumbered you fight the war,
I do not dare but to implore
Why you take this daunting chore,
For I know what you will say.

You are fighting for
A love so pure, A love so sure,
A love that's destined to endure,
A love that by your side will stay.
