Battles Poem by Sheila Sharpe

Battles

Agincourt
Balaclava
Cold Harbour
Dungan's Hill
Rorke's Drift
Naseby
Somme
Waterloo
Ah but this list can go on and on
Ah but this list is far, far too long
but still these names
will trip off the tongue
of men who were heroes
whose deeds will be
remembered long
for the endless list of battles
makes for
the minstrel's harp
a sad, sad song
