Be Careful With Your Words Poem by Francis Duggan

Be Careful With Your Words

With words I put to paper and words that I say
I hope I don't cause offence in any way
And since some feel offended by some others truth
In our usage of words we should not lack in ruth.

Those with great power at their disposal I can't say I trust
But I only condemn what I see as unjust
And since I am not one who does like to pretend
With my words I can't say of everyone I've made a friend.

In my decades of rhyming I've penned heaps of stuff
Though what I have written not quite good enough
An amateur writer who did not make the grade
Though few are successful in the wordsmith trade.

Be careful with your words don't use them out of spite
And be very careful with what you do write
And with what you say or write all will not agree
For we look at things one might say quite differently.
