Be There Poem by George Price

Be There

Rating: 4.5

You’re sad tonight
In the darkness
Far away from me and my dreams
You’re lonely

And I need
To be there
To hold your hands and keep you safe
From harm

I need to sweep
You into my arms
And keep you close and whisper comforts
In your ears

Help you smile
Dream happily again
And see the world through rosy glass
And be alive

But I can’t
Hold your soul
Your mind in joyful comforting arms
I can just be there
So I will.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem for a very dear friend in the grips of sadness. As I said to her then, it is a promise, a declaration type of poem.
