Beach Dinner Poem by Leslie Xavier

Beach Dinner

Forged in fire, fierce and spicy,
litmus: Green to golden brown.
The eager eyes and bites,
corn does the flag pole bit,
I was here, before you.

Waves of salted froth,
anklets for some, movie for many.
Mild warm yet hot spirit,
gulps faster than the beats, empty cup;
you're here too, with me.

Chills, the evening wind,
chilly, silly the snack-time chat.
Boiling hearts in oil,
washed off with ozonized packs.
Glitter, lights and a confused pair,
eager to stay, sad, time's up.

But the walk towards cathedral spire,
minutes couple, the seconds special,
evening's fine, it's you no guess.
