Beat Death To Death Poem by Tony Cemaluk

Beat Death To Death

They said dust to dust.
I said no.

Mama died, decades after Papa died,
but I refused to bury her voice, his voice, their legacies.

I picked pen,
not shovel.
Ink, not sand.

Ebube Agbala,
you beat death before,
with akpu and war without weapon.

Now I beat death for you, for you and for your hubby,
with poem.

You live. The duo live.

ODNNN!

Your Antho.
