Beatle Poem by Christina Shischell

Beatle

If god is there then show yourself
And from the shadows bring a beauty as great as she
Its nice to be needed, I know this
But don't you know I have always needed you?
So from my lips read this story so full of sorrow
Like the letters Neal Cassady and his lovers would exchange, she said
Crazy little girl, riding the rails, come and save me
You told me one day I'd wake up and my life would be gone
I'm waking up today, before it's too late
All the yuppies, self righteous and controlling
Can you see my bones protruding?
The epitome of evil, a girl almost too frail to speak

A small taste of freedom graced the presence of you, my prayer
But oh..it slipped away
You disclosed to me your dreams
You gotta know, she'll never let you be
I am searching for it again
To place in your hands once more
And when they've slapped our wrists hard enough
When they think they've beaten our dreams right out of our souls
Then we can be free
Oh dear child, the things you've yet to learn, the world you've yet to see
Let me tell you, things look quite different
When prison bars are no longer your views obstruction..
