Beauty By Dawn's Glow Poem by Ian Hammond

Beauty By Dawn's Glow

The light glimmers as the sun peaks through the curtains;
Turns your eyes to diamonds, your smile to pearls. Shines,
Like the hand of God reaching through my window showing me
The beauty in your soul coming out through your body.
I know that only I will see you like this, from this light,
While our bodies lay exposed, covered only with each other.
Every inch of you is exposed to my touch, inside and out,
The glorious hues of this sun rise showing me what it’s like
To fall so hard again. Every second turns into a minute,
Every minute feels like a second, time ceases to exist.
As our bodies coincide the world melts away. Sun rise alone
Continues to exist and hold my eyes fixated upon you,
And you alone. This moment feels so cinematic, surreal.
My mind becomes drunk, my heart beats so quickly and so slowly,
Simultaneously racing and stalling while my thoughts blur.
This time I can’t seem to control myself, I’m yours.
I never imagined how beautiful you would look,
Laying next to me in the sun rise’s myriad of colours.
I never wanted last night to end, but with all honesty,
I’ve never been so happy that the sun had to rise again.
By the glowing light of dawn I want to kiss your lips again,
Feel your heart beating on my chest, as I pass into slumber.
