Beauty In The Mind Poem by Leaking Pen

Beauty In The Mind

Each mind is its own instrument
Therefore; we think differently.
I ‘m sure I wrote a poetic masterpiece
I could hardly contain my joy.
Like a kid in candy store,
Or a bird freed from its golden cage.
With great anticipation,
And self-proclamation fanfare
I launched my poem to sail the seven seas.
I dreamt about time past
When poetry centred the world,
I broke a bottle of champagne
And saw nothing but blue skies ahead.
I heard angels cheering me up,
Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna.
Affirming my belief about my poetic masterpiece.
But to my chagrin,
My masterwork turned out to be a dud,
And tasted like sour grapes
From the way my peers judged it.
But surprise, surprise, surprise,
The one poem I thought was a dud
Became my poetic lifejacket.
It rescued me from drowning in bad thoughts
And from just simply giving up.
The poem that surfaced to the light,
Won lots of praises,
And caught my mind's eye by surprise.
I got very good reviews,
And it collected many hits
And was crowned Miss Pen,
A take on my poetic name Leaking Pen.
It was placed front page on this poetry website.
I wonder how can beauty in one eye be ugliness in another?
Or vice versa…
Thus affirming the mystery of the human mind.
Now I know the meaning of 'Love Is Blind'
I dearly love our poetic community,
And its unexpected surprises.
And that how my mind keeps charged up
And I keep going on and on and on writing poetry,
Like that rabbit in a TV commercial forever drumming!
