Been There Done That Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Been There Done That

A whisper faint, a tiny spark,
Life's fragile thread, in shadows dark.
Ten hundred souls, a chosen few,
Carried the hope, for me and you.

For ages long, a chilling dread,
The world grew cold, all life seemed dead.
A hundred thousand years they fought,
Survival's lesson, dearly bought.

When ice sheets grew, and sun grew dim,
They clung to life, on nature's whim.
Through thirsty lands, and bitter air,
A scattered few, beyond compare.

Then slowly, change, a warmer breeze,
New ways to live, beneath the trees.
Perhaps a fire, a guiding light,
Helped them to win the ancient fight.

A tiny band, against the night,
Our ancient past, a wondrous sight.
Before our names, before our time,
They held the seed of coming climb.

And in us now, a hidden beat,
The echo of that past defeat.
A strength that held, when all seemed lost,
A precious gift, whatever the cost.
